Anne with an E Season 3
There were a lot of
emotions I went through during the third season of Anne with an E. There were times where I
was happy, mad, laughing, crying... Just so many emotions.
I was happy to see Mary's
son, Elijah, return because it was a family reunion. Then that
happiness turned to me being mad when he became drunk and stole from
Gilbert's family, followed by sadness when Mary only had weeks to
live. One thing I was happy about following her death was when Elijah
redeemed himself after reading the letter she wrote to him.
I enjoyed it when Anne
stood up for what was right when it came to the Indians and women.
For the Indians, it was for them to be treated exactly like the white
people. For women, it was for them to be heard and treated fairly.
When a woman says no to something she does not want, she means no.
Not for men to think that it is okay to do whatever he wants to her.
I hated that Diana's
parents essentially demanded she go to finishing school rather than
sending her to college like she wanted. I especially hated her father
when he said it was her job to basically be a housewife and obey her
husband so that she may do whatever she would like in the future. I
do like how they came to a realization with the help of Marilla's
advice. That being in parents restricting their child so much, the
child will start pushing them away. To stay involved in your child's
life, let them do as they please. Whether it be going to college or
discovering where they come from.
Now, about Anne and
Gilbert's relationship: Oh my gosh. It was unbelievable. In the first
couple of episodes, I wanted them to get together so much at that
moment. When Anne told Gilbert off about how she did not need his
help and he closed up on her, I was so mad, I gave up all hope of
them getting together at all. Especially when he started seeing
Winifred. I know it was not very nice of me but I hated whenever I
saw the two of them together. I saw her as an obstacle for Anne and
Gilbert getting together. Then there were times throughout the
following episodes where something happened that made me hope all
over again. When they wrote each other a letter that did not reach
the intended person, I was mad. I felt like pulling out my hair
because I was so mad. But, I do have to thank Diana for going off on
Gilbert about Anne (which I quite enjoyed) and Winifred telling Anne
about Gilbert. Those two got a wake-up call when they needed it. And
I am happy that they did get together.
I am sad though that this
was the final season. It was announced less than twenty-four hours
after the finale that the show had been canceled. I saw on a lot of
Tumblr or Twitter posts that those of us who have waited a long time
for Anne and Gilbert to get together were not able to enjoy it for a
whole day. I can see the finale two different ways: The first is that
it is annoying there are no more seasons where we could watch the two
of them get married and start a family. The other is that, for it
being the last episode, we were able to see them confess their
feelings for one another. With that being said, I will continue to
watch this show and also recommend seeing it.
